Author James Hollis has written many books including “What Matters Most: Living a More Considered Life.” This book was recommended to me by a friend who reads diverse, interesting material. So, based on the nudge, I secured a copy and dug in. Glad I did. Don’t think of this as a self-help book. It’s not. In fact, Hollis is the first to admit, there are no easy solutions here people. Life is messy, imperfect, and so are humans, myself included. Please, please, please, I know that many of you are running around screaming “Milnor is perfect, Milnor is perfect,” and if you send me cash I might reconsider my position.
This book made me think and take copious notes, both good things in my limited experience.
If I had to sum things up, I might head for the “What the fuc% is life about?” That’s a decent start. What is happiness? How do I embrace ambiguity? Why does the line at the post office suck so bad? Okay, this last one was my question, not his. But you get the point. I feel like a significant number of people around me have never had their own thoughts. If that sounds like you, well, go get a copy. Get it, read it.

oh man, feel like I think far too much… and feel like no one else does as much – I should probably read this.

As someone said to me yesterday, and this was a Trumper. “I feel like I’m losing braincells every single day.” And this person was STILL all in on voting for him. Welcome to America. Dumber by the day.
Given my current circumstances, I need to keep laughing …so I’m reading Kafka.
