Get it, read it. I love Craig Childs. I don’t mean I love him, love him. Never met the man, but his books live on my “all-time” list. House of Rain, Secret Knowledge of Water, and now The Way Out, among others. A lot of us get out. A lot of us get out THERE. A lot of us leave parts of us behind when we engage with the natural world. Craig goes beyond, leaves much, finds much, and jots it down for us to consume. The Way Out tells multiple tales. A retired cop and the author, two plus weeks across Native American land. Close calls, encounters, inspection, introspection, and histories that bring pain and pleasure.
