The brainchild of Michael Jarecki. Yes, I’m officially in love with the Zine. Michael has been sending these for a while, but I think this is the first I’ve featured. I love everything about this. The title, which should be motivation for all of us, as well as the format, materials and clear sleeve the zine arrives in. Again, a personal publication. The “Zine” has a tendency to fall under certain auspices and get categorized into a “lesser” object when compared to going through the traditional publisher route, but I think this is a big mistake. I like these as much or more than any monograph I own. Zines are a different experience and tend to be far simpler and far more personal than the big books. They also require far less money, time and energy which allows the artist to get back to work instead of taking that eighteen month to two year break that can happen while their life becomes taken over by the publishing process. If I had any new work….I’d be using our Magcloud Digest for Zines. Nice job on this Michael.
