Creative: Visual Diary, Episode #002

For those of you hot and heavy for photography action, stick around till the end. These films aren’t about making a statement, showing off cinematic footage, or anything redeeming. These films are just a window into my life. So far, two films in, I’m having a blast with these. I also have several ideas about trying new things touching on audio techniques and also an idea revolving around silent films. This was a typical week for me. Mostly Blurb work and lots of time on the computer. Snow and ice kept the cycling to a minimum but the running to a maximum. I attended a few shows, and a few dinner parties and did quite a lot of planning for the next five months. Nothing fancy or exotic.

  1. Fanny pack, North Face, check, love it. This is your fault, bought a Pure Cycles free wheel single speed a week ago. The most fun I’ve had on a bike since I was a kid. Matte black all over ninja bike. Cool bird pics.

    1. Wait, it just occurred to me, I thought you said that diaries were supposed to be private. Oops.

Oh man, the single-speed life has found you and sunk its teeth. I did a ride in TX with my brother. He on his roadie and me on the Salsa. 24 miles at my top speed. Biggest climbs I’ve done so far, and all on pavement, so not really what the bike was built for but it was dreamy. And humid, and hot so totally unlike here.

  2. Hello, Dan. I can not wait to hear your thoughts about audio techniques, as I have recently discovered this subject to be very interesting. There are so many sounds around us all the time, if we can only stop for a minute and listen. Recording them is something new I’ve started to study about and I’m interested in a Tascam DR-05X audio recorder. I also like photography and at one point I might bring the photos and the sounds together so your future ideas about silent films might help and inspire me in achieving my little project. Good luck with your work! By the way, I noticed Blurb’s new product: the Liliput Books! Any thoughts about this in a future video, maybe?

  3. Very much enjoying these little films. I had a Mountain Smith bag that had a waist strap. Not sure if was technically a fanny pack, but it was great. I have an Osmo Pocket, version 1 I think. Nifty gear, but I always found it difficult to use. Too much potential for losing the little parts, too.
