Creative: Upcoming Photo Walks

No need for photo credit. The guy is dead.

Shall we dissect this to determine timeframe? No gray hair. Photo jacket of some sort, most likely purchased from Army Surplus in Los Angeles. Not one, not two, but THREE film cameras. One chrome M6, one black M6 and one Hasselblad. Original wedding ring, which I acquired by trading a t-shirt in Morocco. Cheap Swiss Army watch. Normal colored jeans. Not yet “gaunt and wrinkly,” as my wife describes me now. Smoldering gaze into oblivion. In between haircut. No gel. I’m going 2007.

Why is this important?

Well, it’s me walking and shooting which is precisely what I’m going to be doing in London, Barcelona and Seattle. I’ll also be doing this in Amsterdam and Victoria but more on those later. These are Blurb sponsored events, but that just means that we will land at a pub or restaurant or bookstore after the walk where we can talk, hangout, look at portfolios or books. We’ve been doing these for as long as I’ve been at Blurb, and they are always entertaining. And sometimes, yes, we make stellar images along the way.

I normally post every day or every other day while I’m on the road. Not sure I’ll get to that on this trip, but I’ll be trying. For whatever reason, I journal a lot while traveling. More than at home. It feels right to pull out the pen as much as I pull out the camera. And blending words and visuals is the best way to land on a book when all things are said and done. If any of these events looks interesting, sign up and come along.

  1. You have to pick Chrome or Black camera body, what color do you go with? I find myself always fantasizing black but when the time comes to pay for it, I consistently have the chrome body in the cart.

  2. Sorry that the guy who took your photo is dead. So is the guy who did the tattoo of my wife’s name on my shoulder. Moral to the story: carpe diem. But alas, here in Las Vegas, I can’t make London, Barcelona, or Seattle. So please post something for us shut-ins. 🙂
