Welcome to the new series “Ten Questions.” Creative professionals make much of the best work we see, but how does that work come to exist, and what makes these creative types tick? In this series, I will interview artists, writers, photographers, illustrators, designers, and anyone who lives life through a creative lens. My goal is to introduce these artists and their work to my YouTube audience.
There is a major difference between online celebrity and real-world, industry relevance. Both are relevant in these most modern times, but knowing the difference is key to improving as a professional and key to adding to a visual conversation. Stefan Falke is a New York-based photographer who does assignment work and long-term projects. During COVID he undertook a project titled “Keep Going New York.” The work was published in Blurb form and the book has gone on to do quite well. Falke has also done long-term projects on Trinidad and the US/Mexico border.

A great little piece of footage of a marvelous artist. You nailed it Dan. The text questions are the diamonds on the edge.

It’s funny, some love the written questions and others not so much.
You know, until I picked up on you, Dan, and your location in New Mexico, the main thought that I had of the state was incorporated in a lady who lived here in Mallorca for many a long year. She came from that state, and had horses. I also had a kinda theoretical understanding that the art photography people were drawn to if, but that was pretty much it.
However, since discovering your particular online world, shows like Breaking Bad etc. have taken on a far deeper interest level for me (I am currently nearing the end of Season Six – for some reason I couldn’t originally get beyond the first couple of episodes before giving up on it – several times) and I look at the desert shots and think hey, I communicate with a guy who cycles there! Surreal. The spiders and snakes are all that it takes to keep me well away from places like that. India did it for me. I feel grateful I got away unscathed.

It’s safe here. Snakes and spiders are rare. Scorpions too. It’s the humans you have to worry about.
