Hey, you jackals, a little audio treat for you today featuring two down-to-Earth individuals who ooze photographic joy. I’m sure they are flawed in some ways that they have so far kept hidden, but let’s assume they are perfect and worthy of your minutes. I spent time with Iain Farrell during my last London voyage, and his excitement and connection to photography are palpable. He is also the founder of the Prime Lenses Podcast. His subject is Michael Howard, a man who knows what it means to dig real photographic trenches. Not only does Michael shoot weddings, he also runs a lab and is the founder of a new photography-based platform called Foto.
Do you have any idea how difficult and all-consuming this is? Ever been kicked in the teeth?
Anyone who must engage with the general public opens themselves up to despair. I know. I’ve been a wedding photographer, portrait photographer, blogger, public speaker, evangelist, ambassador, and general engager of Dick and Jane Q. Public. What I love about conversations like this is that they are what happens when creatives get together. We talk. And we say things that are important but may or may not find a public voice.
