Photo Fiction is a new series combining a single photograph and a narrative based on both fact and fiction. This is not intended to be perfect. This is simply an exercise in fabricating a story to accompany a photograph. There is a self-imposed, one-hour time limit, but if you choose to copy this idea, and you should, you can impose whatever restrictions make sense to you.
The beauty of Photo Fiction is that it can be done anywhere at any time, and the only requirement is a single image that sparks the idea of the narrative. The series is created in motion form but forces the viewer to remain focused on a single image, something that will most likely prove torturous to many. There is no right and wrong way to accomplish this exercise, but at some point, this would be a wonderful way to collaborate with others who choose to create their own fictional worlds.

Damn, I used to be able to just watch these on Shifter, and now the youtube won’t let me without signing in, “to keep our community safe”, what a load of BS. I prefer not to as the scrivener would say. Anyway, I like the concept and I kind of do that when I want to join a poem with an image, do I go literal or metaphorical or abstract, or some combination.

Anytime…
That was so good! Your writing is outstanding!
I tried one of these a few weeks ago. It was fun.

Thanks Paul. Ironically, wrote this on the plane on the way to Japan….
Danielsan… I was watching (and hating) politics on YouTube when YOUR feed popped up (what a relief)…You had me at the start with everything-aircraft (I love airplanes and flight mechanics in general). Your words eloquently carried thoughts of mixed emotion and skill, inherent in all good pilots. I feared the end. The truth is, everyone has a line. Most will never discover it…But some will. Fantastic writing!

I know zero about aviation, so it was fun to make things up and then pull from things I’ve read. And this was written on a flight to Japan. Go figure.
chuck… and anyone else interested…
If you want a cleaner means for watching YT videos, download and use the DuckDuckGo browser for watching them.
Once installed open DuckDuckGo’s settings and turn on “Private Search”, Web Tracking Protection”, then select “Duck Player” and select “Always open YouTube videos in Duck Player”, and make sure the two “Video Preferences” on that page are also checked.
With some fancy footwork and this browser somehow gets around all the sign in stuff, ad intros, ad interruptions, and active links on the right side of the screen.
Being a bit of a privacy nut, I have a different default browser. But when I want to watch a YT video I copy and paste the YT link from my default browser into the DuckDuckGo browser, press return, and enjoy a much less irritating YT experience. The DuckDuckGo browser automagically fills the screen with only the YT video content. No sign in, no ads, no spinning annoyances on the right of the screen.
DuckDuckGo browser is free and available for Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android platforms and as an extension for Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera and Safari. I’ve found that the Duck Player works for my desktop Mac version but not on my iPhone. I still use DuckDuckGo browser on both platforms because it’s more private than Safari, loads faster and seems to execute faster.
I don’t know if links are allowed on Daniel’s blog but you can get to the DuckDuckGo browser download page here: https://duckduckgo.com/app and you can find that web page by searching for “download duckduckgo browser” (don’t include the double quotes!)

Heard about this system quite some time ago but have yet to give it a go. The security thing is so out of control. We are being milked.
Agreed. There are other low effort things you can do to reduce being milked but you can’t remove it entirely. But this probably isn’t the right forum for going into detail! If you’re interested we can continue via email; I’d be glad to share through email what I do to reduce the noise a little.
