Creative: Paper Boats Zine

Just when I think I’ve finally found a way out….they suck me back in. Welcome to Paper Boats Zine. What is a publication? What isn’t? Does it matter? How many brownie points can one person score with a snot rocket button and a custom journal holder? Answer: a lot. As you will see, it took me a few minutes to figure out what I was looking at and how it worked, but when I did, well, I was a happy camper. This is fun stuff.

I spend a lot of time on conference calls. Most of the time, I am asked to dispense knowledge I’ve acquired both in strange ways and in strange places. Turns out, I have a fair amount of “stuff” to add to these conversations. (Spend enough time around one subject and you are bound to learn something.) One of the largest obstacles I see is conformity. Far too many creative people conform. Heck, I believe a fair number of people don’t even have their own thoughts.

The makers of this Zine, on the other hand, we don’t need to worry about. My guess is they make a wide range of things. And they prioritize their time to best suit their creative juices. This stuff takes time, and if you aren’t focused and driven projects like this won’t get done.

  5. We had to hand-knot our thread after sewing those books to the fabric — backtacking with that walking foot sewing machine shredded the paper!
