Creative: For What It’s Worth, Episode 76

After a long break the world’s most famous, in-demand podcast is back. The dozens of stranded listeners came unmoored as they desperately attempted to find a replacement podcast only to realize nothing came close to FWIW. Most alternative podcasts are run by those who leave the “About” tab empty. People who are compromised in one way or another would like you to know as little about them as possible. Adding or speaking about who they are might impact their analytics, serving as their primary guiding light. But this podcast host talks about what other hosts only talk about in private because he doesn’t care about numbers, data, metrics, or analytics. He cares only about camera gear and film types.

  1. 🤣🤣I have an idea why don’t you post the full transcript of FWIW to Shifter. See how many people read the whole thing. 🤣🤣 I was just wondering if these get uploaded to podcast app? If not, can you start doing that. I like listening to podcasts on the native platform since it’s easier to listen that way!

I think a fair number of folks work like that. Just whatever is gonna get views, no matter how useless. That part doesn’t puzzle me. The thing that puzzles me….the folks who watch.

  3. I know the jacket well. Where I went to college, 1969-73, all the fraternities wore those jackets, with the greek letters, all navy blue, with gold letters on the left breast side, no matter which fraternity, like some sort of cult uniform, and wore them all winter no matter how cold it got, navy blue, snap buttons with a shirt style collar, and white lining.

  4. Yep, the nylon/sheer lining/buttons made certain the whistling wind had no impediment to make sure you were going to get double pneumonia by the time you got home.

  6. Ah Mr. Milnor.. you don’t understand why photographers are interested in gear talk when it’s the tools that create the art. You don’t understand why Trump is more popular than barely there Biden and Kamala and your liberal ideas are failing in the general consensus. Just accept a bit of humble pie and get in touch with real people and get off your damn high horse; it’s really insufferable at this point.

  7. There is always a Dennis. Instead of just moving on and finding someone else to follow, you feel the need to share your butt hurt and lack of understanding with others who couldn’t care less about your opinions.

    2. I’ve learned a lot from Mr. Milnor regarding photography and printing. He has invaluable experience and expertise in both areas. Just had to get it off my chest the annoyance I feel when he starts getting political or bashing gear talk. I understand clearly and am not ‘butt hurt’, and as someone who has spent a decent amount of time watching and reading his content I just wanted to give him a bit of feedback on those issues.

Look, no need to apologize here. Ever. However, just know the political talk will never stop, and I will also continue to bash the gear talk because it’s bullshit and is holding a lot of people back. The gear talk is for geeky dudes who are tell me they want to get better but won’t put the work in. And politics, or talking politics is an essential.

    4. I agree my demeanor and tone were pretty petty and juvenile. I actually felt bad for leaving such a comment but couldn’t seem to find how to delete it. My apologies to Mr. Milnor for that one
