Creative: For What It’s Worth, Episode 64

Well, back with a vengeance. Outside, 90s, noise, family interruption. Nothing will stop me. Topics? Trump did it, the averageness of the AR-15, why the XT4 is FAR superior to the X100 series, the Tour de France, and how easily I could win but how impactful COVID has become on the race, my fastest 40k ever, how I read tea leaves in the field, the loveliness of the status quo and how I’m going to establish a pre-crime unit to solve a public woe. Just start listening.

  1. Thanks for the free-thinking.

110+F here in S. NM. Eddie Bauer makes the ultimate flip-flops… indestructible. Miss my original X100… always shot SOOC JPEG including B&W. China has 25K+ miles of high speed rail. Taurus TX22 w/CCI makes for a good noise maker. Most of my nieces and nephews do not want to have kids… just like Uncle-me. Good friend who recently passed left me his two cats and E-bike… the cats get raw, grass-fed beef, and I pedal… honest non-Injun. Facial Tats… end of times.

  2. Now, if that doesn’t sound like a promising episode!
    Looking forward to it.
Btw. Isn‘t the AR-15 superior to the x100 series? That‘s the real hard question here.
    I don‘t think so.
    Cheers,
    Robin

  3. It took me a bit of time to figure out what camera system worked for me. I too have owned two x100 cameras, selling my last one about three months ago. I liked the files well enough, but not the wide angle. I don’t ever go wider than 50mm. I have old analog Olympus lenses from my OM1 that work with my two Pen-f digital cameras, as well as art lenses. The micro four thirds format works well for what I do. The Pen-f also has the cool back that can flip the screen to the inside, that I also love about the XPro3. The heat here in the middle of North Carolina is oppressive all summer. At 11:00 this morning it was 86 with a heat index of 99, projected to get to 105 later.

I think heat is the new black. Pretty much everywhere and water is right there too. Even here in Maine. Never seen it this dry. I would love an Xpro and my hunch is I will land the next version of that.

  4. This is the first time in over twenty plus years that I haven’t followed the Tour live (on TV). I just can’t get excited about it and couldn’t careless who wins.

I’d love a 35mm Leica Q3 but my Lumix S5 (which shares some internal software etc. with the Q2) is more than capable for my needs. Paired with the Sigma 35mm f/2 its probably the 2nd best camera I’ve ever owned behind the M6.

Sean, it was an unreal tour but really over by the 11th or 12th stage. I’m going to speak about this again because there was a lot of “weird” goings on behind the scenes. The Lumix looks fantastic but I hear the motion autofocus is a total killer if you need motion. Everyone loves that camera but says “if you need focus tracking don’t buy it.”
