Creative: Fine Art Seminar, Duncan Miller Gallery

Here is another event I’d like to bring to your attention. The event is hosted by Duncan Miller Gallery in Los Angeles, falling under their Fine Art Seminar series. I’ve known Daniel Miller for years, and our names are close enough to cause confusion. I like Daniel for many reasons. First, he is always doing things that no one else is doing. Even the most peculiar seem to come to fruition. I like people who work and operate differently than the norm. Two, he’s nice. I’m no gallery/museum expert, nor do I know much about collecting archives of vintage photography from remote places. He does, but he doesn’t make me feel like an idiot for being a rube.

He asked if I would speak as part of the upcoming seminar, and I originally said “Yes.” Then I realized I’d be on a flight at that time. So, I made a recording. A ten-minute take on why print in the Digital Age is so important. There is a $45 fee to attend this lecture but for those interested in getting a sneak peek inside this world, worth it. Any good gallerist knows how important it is to help clients understand collecting strategy, and a good gallerist puts on seminars like this to help guide both photographer and collector.
