This book is twisted which means it’s right up my alley. At one point I figured out one of the main plot twists, but it didn’t impact my experience or my feeling toward the book. It did make me wonder why these twisted books make so much sense to me? Bruce Holbert’s “Lonesome Animals” is a dark and stormy read filled with violence, death, ritual killing and a landscape that reads like one of the characters. It’s a bit like…not gonna tell you. This book is based on Holbert’s family, specific members who did specific and tough-to-explain things. Don’t want to give anything away but it takes one dark turn after another while still being strangely beautiful.
