Meet Mr. John DeMerritt. Bookbinder, artist and all around COOL guy. Walking into his studio makes you want to quit your job, buy an apron and start building books, boxes and unique things and make people marvel. Got a chance to sit down with him and talk history, books and the essence of custom. I’ve also hatched a plan to commission him for a small project. Stay tuned.

Love the photos, especially the second. As a small-time amateur bookbinder I have to say it is INCREDIBLE how many rolls and fragments of bits of paper and cloth and other paper and this and that one accumulates. Making and fixing books is wildly rewarding for a guy like me, even in the somewhat ham-fisted way I do it.
Nice work Dan, my favourite in this series so far. Keep up the good work unearthing these characters.

Mick,
Thanks for listening. I think you are going to like Phil Chipman who is up next….
Long live books! Can I move into that studio please?!
Author
Chloe,
Yes, that studio would be a nice little edition to Sydney……..
And I LOVE Full Moon! Similarly I love Ancient Light: Portrait of a Universe.
And bring this guy to Australia next time!
