Creative: Visual Diary #011

As you can see by the footage and stills in this film, I’m not out making life-changing imagery or footage. But what these films have done is force me to make more, of everything. Writing, shooting stills, and recording when I normally would have just been to myself. Don’t fear, my private life is still very much private and will remain so. I get plenty of alone time for writing, reading, designing, planning, scheming, and daydreaming.

For me, these away times are essential.

My friend Rudy is in this film. His 72 hours in Santa Fe were incredible. Straight from the airport to the balloon fiesta where we got VIP passes. The following day we had a solar eclipse. Then later that night we were treated to an insane shooting star. The next day was peak fall foliage and a hike up to 10,500 feet. During the hike, we saw a vagrant, uncommon bird species. We went to a book signing, an art opening, and then grilled bison burgers under the stars. All in all, he nailed it. Oh, and he gave me a maté protocol class which made my maté experience so much more flavorful. (I was doing it wrong.)

This week is speaking gigs, planning for Paris, catching up from being in Peru and having company, and also planning for potential trips later in the year. Archiving work, learning software, reading about grids and what it’s like to be a bird. Also starting a new Blurb journal. Stay tuned.

  1. I used to think I was busy like you are and then I had my son and realised life was just a warm up to the insane busyness of parenthood!

How are you putting your instax prints in your journals? I was using glue, but those have started falling out so I switched to double sided tape, which holds better but doesn’t bend well with the pages…
