Hello jackals, I’ve missed you. I’m here to do two things. One, provide random thoughts regarding several different matters, and two, dispel a rumor. For some reason, someone out there is connecting me to a certain camera, which in turn leads to people emailing me about this camera. Only one problem with this. I don’t own the camera. Never have, actually. Not the end of the world, but I thought it a perfect moment to share a little history, catch up on current events, and keep you informed about a few things you may or may not find interesting.
It looks like there will be more films in my future.
I’m on the hook. I’ve been tasked. (Others too.) What these films are remains to be seen, but I should know more in the coming weeks. I have mixed emotions about this. Filmmaking is challenging, which I like, but it also takes copious time and makes shooting stills or writing nearly impossible because I’m not skilled enough to do more than one thing at a time. This isn’t a complaint. This is me attempting to figure things out in my head, which you know is a lonely place. It could also be me trying to find a way out of fully committing to making films.

You were right, Dan. Today IS the first day of the rest of my life. :). Thanks for dropping those names for me to research!

Contact Press Images……a total goldmine.
I have seen great films made by a single person. However, in their interviews they usually have a crazy look in their eyes. They are not normal. (Also, you often learn that there were a few hidden hands here and there for key moments.)
You need a team. Two extra folks could make everything go much smoother for you. Or at least save you from back pain. It’s worth the scheduling headaches.
I am surprised Hasselblad and Leica do not send you more toys, by the way. They ought to.
I’ll check on those names. Speaking of names, I forgot to edit mine in my last comment. Fixed in this one.

A team feels mandatory, but the flipside is I like to be alone. So….I’ve got to find a solution.
Mate, isn’t it just bloody astounding how rumours sprout like weeds in a neglected backyard, even when there’s not a single hint, clue, or dodgy whisper from you about owning a Leica Q3 43? lol
Speaking of Leica, though, I reckon I had a proper moment of madness myself when I seriously flirted with the idea of splashing out on a Leica Q2 Monochrome which was around the time I stumbled across your YouTube channel (2020?).
See, I was teetering on the edge of a midlife crisis, and you know how it goes, tradition demands you blow an obscene pile of cash on something to make you feel reckless and alive, yeah? That mid-life crisis turned out to be the height of my uncontrollable Gear Acquisition Syndrome, next level crisis I reckon, but luckily you slapped some sense in to me just in time. I’d like to experience a Leica one day but I will only do it once I can prove to myself that my change in photographic direction, which I have embarked on since ( storytelling through photography ) can warrant such a lavish reward.
Anyway, enough drivel from me. Your blogs continue to entertain, educate and help me stay focus on my own project. Keep it up and I look forward to more stories and films from you mate.

It’s SO easy to fall into the GAS situation. Modern kit is cool and interesting, but then again, it all boils down to time in the field. Unless that changes, why should any of us need or want a new camera. Leica makes good stuff. They always have. Yes, it’s a designer brand, but that’s okay. I use many brands that fit this bill.
