Attention Seattle. Please alert the media. Uncle Danno is coming to town. Anyone who knows photography in Seattle knows PCNW, and those who know PCNW also know about Chasing the Light, an event that has been going on since Seattle had three-masted schooners off the coast. Blurb is involved, so I’m there to give a talk, a software demo, and to answer questions. But more importantly, I’m there to get you to think in new ways. My job has become a job of ideas. The creative world has become conformist in ways I never thought possible. My job, to undermine the foundation of that conformity. To attend, you must be registered!
And to teach you how to do this while still having FUN.
Join renowned photographer and Blurb Creative Ambassador, Dan Milnor, for an inspiring and practical workshop on the art of photo bookmaking. This session will explore the power of storytelling through print, guiding participants from concept to creation with insight, purpose, and creativity.
Through a dynamic lecture, Dan will share his philosophy on long-form visual storytelling and how to approach bookmaking as a meaningful extension of your photographic practice. He’ll discuss project development, editing strategies, sequencing, and design—drawing from decades of experience in documentary photography and publishing. Following the lecture, Dan will lead a live demonstration using Blurb, showing how to bring a photo book to life using the Blurb platform. He’ll offer tips on layout and production choices to help you craft a compelling, professional-quality book—whether for personal expression, client delivery, or public distribution.
Who Should Attend: Photographers of all levels interested in transforming their images into cohesive narratives through bookmaking. No prior experience with Blurb is necessary.
What You’ll Learn:
- How to conceptualize and structure a photo book
- Editing and sequencing techniques for visual storytelling
- Design best practices for impactful layouts
- A hands-on walkthrough of the Blurb platform
- Tips for self-publishing, distribution, and project longevity

Wish I could make the event and photo walk but my son’s grad program commencement is that weekend. I’ll register and donate to PCNW anyway and maybe, just maybe, I can be there in-person on June 15.

My talk is on the 7th, but their programming goes much further.
