Wonder where I’ve been? You and me both. What a few weeks it has been. Finally back in New Mexico and attempting to unpack the mess that is my brain. There is no real purpose of this film other than piecing together some leftovers and wasting time I don’t really have time to waste. What have I do with my kit? And for what reason? Am I about to start saying “no” to many of things I’m currently saying “yes,” to? What about my workshops? How does maté and fitness work together? And will life provide a computer that works for my 360 camera? No need to thank me. Now get out there and do something.

  1. Love the opening and the choice of music with the stills and video. The Shifter site updates sound promising, and I hope you keep cross posting the youtubes on Shifter, and oh yeah, much prefer the esthetics of Vimeo. Mate, yes!

    1. I also prefer Vimeo, but they’ve made some bad user interface choices. The site just isn’t intuitive for me. Feels clunky. But I really dislike YouTube.

  2. Very nice Dan, but two things: where can I get decent Mate without paying an arm and a leg for it? And do yourself a favor, put that plastic pen
in a drawer, and get yourself a Zebra brass barreled G-450 in black…less than the cost of a cappucino. It’s brass, and in a pinch, with the right aim and velocity, you can throw it at an intruder and put their eye out.

  3. Loved the beginning. I find myself learning quite a lot from these films you’re making.

Australia – I just got back from my first trip since Covid and wrote recently on my website (http://tinsy.me/uennAE) about how it`s probably the only country I regularly find myself looking forward to visiting. I dream of Western Australia again but it’s mostly Queensland for me nowadays. I’m joining the grey nomads when retirement beckons!

Fitness – Fitness is imperative and you are absolutely correct regarding recovery time. My legs have only just recovered from a long weekend hike. 10 years ago I’d be good to go again the next day but not anymore. Incidentally, a question for one of your Q&A videos: What camera & sound gear do you take specifically for hiking?

Jetstream – I’ve got one now. And now that I have one I’m noticing them everywhere!
