Creative: New York City Photo Walk and Meetup

This just in. Attention New York City. Dan Milnor will be walking and talking later this month during a photo walk and meetup deep in the bowels of Manhattan. I will also have a colleague in tow, someone who has NOT done one of these events before, so come out and give her a hand. Yes, I will be wearing my orange hat. In fact, I might wear the exact same outfit I did last time, just to make people think I live in my car. (I often do and routinely wear the same clothes on a day-to-day basis.)

Getting out and making random work is always an entertaining endeavor. This is different from how I normally work, so I don’t really care where I go or what I see. Plus, I’m a journal-keeper, so observations are as important as photographs. I will walk and look, but I will also walk and listen. And then I will attempt to compile my efforts into something tangible. As always. See you there. Any questions, let me know.

  1. I so wish I could be there – the true value of spending time with Dan on a photo walk is not watching the “master” at work but instead to have access to the man in his natural environment. These conversations could happen in a classroom but in the field is where they will resonate. Maybe a picture of importance will be made but the journey is much bigger than that. Have a great time.

Ha, thanks Richard. I agree, most of the time, the walks about the talk more than the shooting, which is good by me. Same for the meetup. Often feels more important than the walk.
