Back from the New Mexico mountains. Sea level. Everything is easy. Up early, just spinning. Ticking of the k’s. Or miles or whatever unit of measurement you prefer. Alone on the road. Back Bay to Shady to Laguna Canyon. Stop for a banana that has exploded in my backpack. I choke it down and almost puke it up it’s so gross. Coast Highway to Newport Coast. The climb, at least for around here. After weeks in the mountains it’s easy and I can push harder than normal. I think about descending and doing it again but keep moving instead. Another lap of Back Bay. Tired of these roads. 55 miles with 4k of climbing. Enough. Need food.
